AGING ASBESTOS WARNING

Asbestos was widely used in building much of the twentieth century. After 1968, asbestos was still used in construction, but in smaller quantities.

The general consensus is that asbestos does not cause health problems unless its fibers are released into the air. People should still be wary of mesothelioma because aging asbestos-containing materials easily released asbestos fibers into the air. Exposure occurs when asbestos fibers are inhaled or ingested, lodging themselves in the lungs to eventually cause pleural mesothelioma or asbestosis.
